Can anyone comment on how well JB Weld will stick to a fiberglass hull. I used to fiberglass over the JB Weld bond for extra insurance but don't think you really need to. thanks Jeff Jones
JB Weld vs Fiberglass hull

JB Weld is my glue of choice for fiberglass reinforced epoxy, metal (even aluminum and stainless after pre-treatment) and hard non-flexible plastics. I find it's much more adherent and a whole lot stronger than West Systems epoxy thickened with their silica powder. I've used it on boats, rc models, and high power model rockets. I've never had a JB Weld joint fail. I find that patches fair into the base FRE perfectly. I buy it in the 15 oz tubes, and I buy a lot of them, from Amazon.

I guess I should answer your q a bit better. As long as the substrate is keyed ie sand the area to be joined it will hold good. I wouldn't bother with glassing over your jb weld joint. A friend used jb weld on his seven foot cruiser and it worked greatsigpic. You have to ask yourself one question...would the admiral approve
