    German type II sub

I recently picked up 1/21 scale RPModeltech type 2d hull. I have a lot of books on the WWII German subs but not much on the type II in the way of detailing the boat. At such a large scale detailing is a must.

Anyone have a suggestion where to find more info?

    Jim,

As a start, I'd suggest the following books:
    • Vom Original zum Modell: Uboottyp II by Fritz Köhl and Axel Niestlé
    • The Type II U-boat by Waldemar Góralski

I also strongly recommend that you pick up a set of Type II U-boat plans that were drawn by Gerhard Beck. Loyalhanna Dockyard carries them under their Taubman line of drawings.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_2&sr=8-2 Kagero's book is not bad, if you can find a copy. Eberhard Rossler's book 'Vom Original Modell: Type II U-boat-if you can find it-Geman text. Plans vary from source to source, photos aren't as available for the Type II's opposed to TYpe VII's. My hull was made by Barnstormer after the molds were purchased from RPM. I also recently acquired a OOP Sheerline Type II.

The only plans that are available that are of any value are the ones I suggested. (the Beck drawings) There are plans in the Köhl/Niestlé book, but are not very large. I've never seen them available in a large format, however if you have a scanner with a high resolution you can print them larger.
