Has anyone had a problem with the ballast servo not working with it y harnessed to the pump assembly even though both work fine on their own and the y harness has been checked as OK. I am using. A 75 MHz four channel brand new futaba radio any suggestions would be much appreciated. Mark

You'll need to be a bit more specific about the system you're installing e.g. pump controller and other ancillaries plumbed into the R/C
The subdriver I am using is. David Merriman creation with a pump already supplied in to it the pump has a small unit attached to it with a conventional futaba plug which I joined via a y connector to channel 4 on my four channel 75 MHz radio
My set up has a boat speed control high quality and a separate BEC I have not yet connected the angle keeper and fsilsafe thanks for replying. Mark
Okay perhaps some conflict between the pump controller and the rest of the radio. Sounds a bit odd. Have you ensured you only have the one BEC feeding the receiver bus?

Yes it is feeding the receiver. I should mention if I disconnect the rudder servo plug and plug the ballast servo into the rudder position in the receiver by moving both sticks simultaneously I get both the ballast servo and pump to work perfectly so both the ballast servo and pump controller work properly but not with both joined via the y connector. Does this mean I need a six channel radio it should be able to work with a four channel and y connector so I have been told
Trying to run two items of which one is the pump motor.
Is the pump motor run through a speed controller to get variable speed on the pump?

4 channels, not in any specific order.
1. Propeller
2. Rear planes
3. Rudder
4. Ballast system.
Ballast system vent and pump can be run using switch and servo.
Servo in one direction activates vent whether electric switch or mechanical vent valve.
Other direction would operate electric switch to power pump motor.
No need for motor controller.
The Y connector will run two servos such as in a V tail airplane or sub.
It might run a servo and a motor but the motor would try to run on both sides of neutral on the stick as would the servo.
I think the Y connector is unnecessary.
One channel and a vent valve electric or mechanical and switched to power for the pump motor.
I have never used a Y connector and at this point I know know how it would work for ballast tank operation.
Maybe the Y connector in the original project was for an X tail boat.
I will be watching to see how this all works out.

Does the light on the pump come on when the Y harness is attached? Are you running this on 7.2v or 11.1v LiPo? If 7v, remove the resistor on the pump. It is there if you are using 11v LiPo.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Yes the light comes on either red or green depending on direction of deflection the pump is hard wired and I am using an 11.1 v battery. When the y harness is connected to the ballast servo and the pump only the pump works if I disconnect the pump lead the ballast servo works fine? ?
Okay, it's a shot in the dark, but perhaps one of the items hooked up is presenting too low an impedance to the receiver, and is dragging the signal down.

You may want to see what happens if you disconnect the pump board and plug a second servo into the spare connector on the y-lead. If both servos work okay, try disconnecting the original servo, and plug the pump board back in, if it plays up again, I would suspect the pump board as the culprit.
In that case I would advise getting in touch with Dave Merriman and Kevin Mcleod, the latter being the designer of the pump board. Kevin posts on here and sub driver forum, Dave can only be contacted at the latter.
I just caught on to this... I think I've come across this before, and I believe that the pump controller is drawing down the signal from the receiver to the point that the servo isn't seeing it. A buffered Y-lead (or a buffer on the pump-side of the Y-lead) should take care of the problem.
