You have to start somewhere, I guess, another fleet boat project...

So, while researching my USS TANG project, I stumbled on this ebay sub that was started down in MS and was looking for a new home. Now unpacked in the basement, I shall attempt to finish it...

YESSSSS! A Balao to prowl the waters!
Great find and what a fun 'sub'ject. Look forward to your build.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Seems like the pvc should be deep-sixed immediately. Would a CO2 set up be better for bringing this big boat up or a Propel? I was planning on using a 7ah battery for power and extended running time, hours rather than minutes. Has anyone done a dual ballast tank on a big boat, ie., pushing the wtc far back and having a similar tank forward with the battery in the center of the boat? Didn't know if that would make sense.
        Thanks for the encouragement...

          Yes, deep six the PVC.
They were shown years ago to go brittle from the gas. BD

I would not start sub building by splitting the ballast tank. Already pointed out get rid of the PVC tank. CO2 vs Propel type gas? I am not sure the benefits. CO2 looks convenient, but is it more expensive in maintaining? Do not know, I have not used it yet. I do not know how many times you can blow the tank (i am sure the size of the tank needs to be added to the number) before replacing. Since your WTC is already setup for Propel type gas system, why not stick with that?

Talk to Jim Butt about a CO2 system for a ssy hull. That's how his USS Batfish is set up.
