I found a very interesting Märklin clockwork sub and I was thinking, are there any more? really, clockwork is above and beyond my skill set, but I do love clockwork.

In my humble opinion the coolest clockwork sub ever made was the ITC Halibut.
Always wanted one as a kid and finally found one a few years back not going for hundreds of dollars.
I never had the courage to put it in the water though.
I actually did an article in the SCR years ago on it.
For a young boy in the 60's in love with submarines. It was the ultimate toy. BDsigpic"Eat your pudding Mr Land"

The Halibut looks amazing. I like the McLaren subs as well, but the clearly visible plastic ones just don't do anything for me. My generation caught the tale end of the tin toys so they hold a special place with me. I can't find anything on Wilhelm Bauer's sub. I keep getting the type XXI.
