        Dave,

I think most of us who have been in the rc boat hobby for a while have built more than one Dumas kit. I've built most of the Dumas USCG kits since I started rc models in 1975. My current operational Dumas fleet consists of: 1940 Chris Craft Barrel back; USS WHITEHALL (PCE 856); 1947 Chris Craft Utility Boat; 1941 Chris Craft 16' Hydroplane; and USCG 36551 Motor Lifeboat. On the backlog pile is the little vac formed plastic hull tugboat CAROL MORAN. The WHITEHALL kit was a kit review for Seaways Ships in Scale Magazine a few years ago. The WHITEHALL is another one of the Dumas vac formed plastic hulls.

The WHITEHALL kit, built as PCE 875 - known affectionately as "George".

          You are right Bob.
I built my first Dumas kit SK Daddle Two around 1968.
I have built probably 10 of their kits so far.
I just had to kid Erich about building three in a row for his first targets.
BTW I really like George. I did not know Dumas made that kit.
          Nice size. BD

I might bring George to the September run. Because the magazine provided the kit, running hardware, weapons, and some photo etch, I had to build the model box stock. The two notable exceptions I made were for the bilge keels and the half round rub rail. The kits provides some 1/16" x 1/8" bass wood for the bilge keels, which get sealed and glued to the styrene hull. The rub rail is the standard Dumas coil of triangular stock that needs to be straightened and shaped. In both cases I used some Evergreen styrene.
