    JP's Fleet

Great, now I have to bust out the Purdy.

So what does everyone want to see first, SS United States, Sovremennyy-class destroyer, or an Arleigh Burke? I'd add the Beaver that we built, but um, that became roadkill.

To be clear I did NOT build her. My wife commissioned her for my birthday one year. She is lit and being plank on frame, is the opposite of the steel aluminum 1:1 original. She is also twin screw drive/steering rather then quadruple screw rudder. It is differently NOT a target.

The Real girl (rotting away in Philadelphia) was and still is the fastest ocean liner, ever. It's been joked that when operational, she would go faster-backwards-then cruse ships can go in forward today. Francis Gibbs took everything he learned during WWII and built a ship for use in peace and war. Built to a 5 compartment standard with only 2 wood items allowed on the ship (he was in charge of the USS Leviathan restoration after the fire), and a split engine room; it was built to in theory, take a beating and keep going. As far as I know, she is the last ocean liner/cruse liner to have been completely built in the US. Holland America's ships were finished in Germany.

If things work out, she'll be in Spokane next year.

Thanks! It may not be a sub, or even a combat ship, but it does serve as our flagship. I had to do some repairs after FedEx um, delivered a partial kit. The Sovremennyy was much, much worse.
