    Subtech ADC-1 questions

I recently was given a Subtech ADC-1 auto depth controller by a friend who's husband past away several years ago. He never used the ADC, but for reasons unknown, clipped off the connectors at the ends of the connector cables. My guess is that he was planning to replace the connectors, for some reason. The result is that I have two servo type wire bundles, and not a clue which one goes where. If anyone knows how to identify the in and out cable, I would very much appreciate their help.
Also, does the ADC-1 go before or after the pitch controller, between the receiver and the rear plane servo? It will be used in a rear plane only configuration, on a single screw submarine.
Any other tips about installing and running an ADC-1 are welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Hi,

I have an ADC1. My unit is one of the older types that came in the cream case. Not sure if the design was changed later on, but I think they would be the same.

Basically you should have eight cables leading out of your ADC-1. They are usually wound into looms, but don't worry if they are not.

    You should have

    2x red wires
    2x black wires
    3x white wires
    1x grey wire.

Red and black wires are common, and simply connect to the receiver 5 volt bus and ground. Two of the white wires are for the signal from the receiver, and another for the signal to the servo. the third white wire is used in conjunction with the single grey wire, when the two wires are connected together the depth control is switched off. So you can use a relay or transistor switch to turn the depth control on and off if you so wish. I have highlighted these wires in the first image.

In the second image, I show you position of the white signal wire that should feed the servo, and thus the one remaining white cable which goes to the receiver channel is the last one left by default.

I've finally included an instruction sheet which should answer your questions regarding set-up.

Thank you very much, Andy. You're the BEST ! The photos are immensely helpful, and answer the pertinent questions. I've been running subs for decades, but I think that I'll give the ADC a go. Again, thanks.
