So I'm still working on my boat (Engel typhoon) but I got this idea when I first opened it: bow to stern tubes with pump jets. It's sort of a mix between 'The Hunt for Red October' the book and the movie. The movie uses a Magnetohydrodynamic drive which is a great way for any P3 to find you, but the book used pump jets. I emailed Engel about it and as far as he knows no one has tried it yet. I't be pretty neat (and fast for that matter) to see, but I have no idea how they did the props for that model. The pitch always looked wrong to me, but then again they could be variable pitch so they can be turned when not in use. I got a better idea when I looked through my personal treasure trove of parts, but I determined I could only power a 1:60 scale model and I'm not inclined to try and build one. Plus the parts I'd use are block aluminum thrusters, not jets.
