A non pressureized ballast tank pump system

    Hello

I dont know if this same system has been used before but if not than its a first.
It is currently being used on my U-32 and will be also adapted for use on the Type XXI also from Robbe.

Both subs are large impressive subs not normaly intended to be static divers,so I went way off the manuals and modified them to be static divers,so far with great sucses.

Here is a diagram of how it works.
The Ballast tank has a tube running the intire lenght of the tank at the top and has slits cut into the tube that way no mater the attitude of the sub air and water will escape.
Baffles are used as well see my other posts.

Fill the tank and water and air will escape to the sail or sides of the sub if you like then once dived turn the pump off.
To surface water is drawn out and air from the WTC enters the tank creating a vacume that is also used to drain any water that might have acumulated in the bottom of the WTC.
Once on the surface a vent solinoid valve is opened by remote and the WTC is returned to a normal pressure.Complete venting of the WTC is benificial to remove explosive gasses from the baterries.
The pump is the one pictured and from a Volvo,Mercedes,Porche windshield washer, costs 20.00$ or so on Ebay.
Ballast tank made from PVC schedule 20.

No high pressure or overworking a pump in this system but most of all, fantastic hoverring is made easy and plenty of free board can be achieved just pump out more water,or settle her down for higher speed running.
Total cost of system under 40.00$ ,now since I iliminated 2 solinoids and replaced them with one way valves.
