    Fleet snorkel question

Greetings gents, I might have posted this question in the wrong forum, so I'll try here. I'm building up a Revell Gato as a '50s Fleet Snorkel and I've hit a bit of a snag with the safety track and messenger buoy details. I'm assuming the track was raised (?), so what can I use in 1/72 for it? Also what would work for the buoy covers, styrene cut to shape? I've been a member off and on since Ken Hart was the first president of SCR, always had a lot of fun here. Thanks in advance, Norm

I was looking at that issue but in 1/48.
It looks like it was a semi-recessed rail, sorta "T" shaped. I think it could be represented by some of the styrene shapes I have seen in hobby shops. I think in your case HO or N scale track may work.
The pictures I looked at were Navy photos taken during the transfer of the USS Mapiro to the Turkish navy:

    Hope that helps!

Ok, great pics, they covered all the bases. Was surprised to see they carried the 5 inch into 1960. Thank you Steve. Norm Will check out the rail track.......
