    Primers

Many years ago, Mr Thor guided me to a lacquer primer in a can. It works really well. I love using it, even though it is getting kinda hard to find.
Now, I wanted to check the rules of different types of painting and primer.
Can you use any type of paint over the lacquer primer? I would like to see feedback on today's primers. What works, what does not.

Enamel over lacquer usually crinkles. The primer must be formulated a little different if it doesn't.
You can usually paint lacquer over enamel, as long as it is completely dry first.

Always found it the other way around. Here in the UK, enamels are usually oil based, and lacquer cellulose based, you can paint oil based over cellulose, but not the other way around.
