Ambroid, that brings back memories when I was 9 and building tissue covered, rubber band flying planes.
My favorite glue today is Zap-A-Gap CA+ (Thin, Medium)
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Elmers glue was my favorite as a kid.
Smear it on your finger and then peel it off
like snake skin after it dries. You can also
      see your fingerprint in it.

            Re: Favorite glue!

Haven't really got a favourite as such. I have found a lot of the modern acrylic adhesives very useful, as there doesn't seem to be much they can't stick, and they're waterproof and very strong. So far I've used Deluxe materials super crylic, Fusion and Devcon Plastic Welder II.

I tend to avoid using cyanoacrylates on subs, I know a lot of model submariners use cyano, but I just don't trust the stuff underwater.

Other than that, if it's GRP hull I'll tend to use the appropriate resin (polyester or epoxy) sometimes mixed with glass or a thixo additive for bonding things in. If it's plastic I tend to solvent weld, or use the afore mentioned acrylic adhesives if bonding metal components in.

Okay so here are my favorites:

CA: Gorilla Glue Medium CA ---Waterproof!
Epoxy Paste: CONAP EASYPOXY --- 2 part kit that sets in 2 hours at room temp and cures in 24 hours, great for heavy duty applications. I get them for free too!
Epoxy Liquid: WEST Systems 101+201 hardener --- Not cheap, but really good and is marine grade!
                Contact Adhesive: Automotive GOOP
Sealant: Clear Red Devil architectural grade 100% Silicone
                Acrylic/Polycarbonate/Styrene --- Weld-on 3

I also like Gorilla glue itself for some applications that require moderate clamping pressure or requires glue expansion.
