      Be prepared to pay big

Be prepared to pay big bucks! I wanted some decals for my 1/72 USS Cod and I got a quote of about 200.

      Too much for my blood.

Hic, 200 is too much, Im afraid the cost should be higher than retail price at stores.

Go to micro-mark.com. They sell decal printer paper you can run through your inkjet or laser printer. You can either print on a white background or clear. Problem is you can't print white. But they work well and are not expensive. You just need to have good art to print off your computer. I've used them on professional models I made for Volkswagen, and they worked out very well.

Peter Mealings emailed me on this topic yesterday and I thought I'd share his comments:

"I appreciate it's in the UK but the link below are to superb people. The do 'one offs' and not expensive. The cost of 10 x Swedish roundels for my OTW Naken was about US$25.00 as I remember.

Maybe you could pass the link on.

They also produced a US flag for my 1898 USS Holland with the correct number of stars that was about US$20.00, again as I remember.

                A very fast service to.

Hope of help to the guy.

                  Re: Custom made decals

I know that place. AFAIK they don't offer a wet or dry transfer (decal in U.S parlance) making service, but supply vinyl lettering, which sit proud of the surface (e.g a sticker). Now this may or may not be acceptable to you.
