Hello fellow Captains and builders,I have developed a WTC or a pressure hull that is cheap versatile and durable not to mention great looking.Check out the ones at The Well Equiped Kitchen.com and the same item cheaper at other sites.
Or the canisters can come from many sources like Beds and Baths ,Linen and Things or even Walmart has a selection.
They come in several sizes all with the same aproximate diamiter of 4.75 in and range in lenth from 4 to 9 inches,there is even a double openended one.Also plastic or SST polished very nicely is my choice.
The reason is the acrilik ones can crack when worked so be carefull,while the SST ones dont and are very strong.
The main seal is made of durable silicone and is easy to replace.
As you can see in the pictures there is a platform that all the components are attached and it in turn is bolted and glued to the lid or bulkhead.
To seal the canister I removed the locking mechanism and at the oposite end of the platform is a cleavis bolt that when instaling the entire contents of the canister ,the bolt passes threw a pre drilled hole at the bottom of the canister ,one nut and it opens up,very easy to service the components and water tight,oh there is a neopreme washer and SST washer to seal the bolt and hole all from the hardware store.
Regular bellow boots are used on the push rods and Marine GOOP adhisive to glue and seal all the pass threw areas, epoxy also can be used.This WTC is large enough to acomidate my aircompressor system or a pump type ballast system.
Brass u shaped rails support and guide the platform into place with the cleavis bolt lined up in its hole,with out the rails it would be very difficult to alighne the cleavis bolt.Also in the pictures is a multy pin cannon plug conector ,though not necessary I just like there funtionality and work very well.
They are hard to come by but if your interested I do have some for sale.
Also if you need to use too motors there is plenty of space even with watercoolling them as seen in the pictures ,the coils around the motor and then one outside,a sealed coolling system best suited for no contamination of sand ect in the coolling gear pump.
Now for the fun part. These canisters can have another canister attached to them, hence the ballast tank,use a variety of canisters iether single or in series for larger subs,but use small canisters so that the bottoms are the partitions for anti slosh inbalance.
