about lathes - get one and have a look at these sites

Hi all,
advance your general tinkering capabilities with a lathe !
in the US small lathes seem to sell for about $400
(in europe it costed me 700 euro..)

If you consider this (a hobby of it's own), have a look at

yahoo minilathe group (also check related groups ]www.mini-lathe.com
this is the definitive site for that type of minilathe but it's
links and lots of info is of a more general type

These are just starting points for your exploration.
They took me a while to find, so I decided to put them
up here.

I really like the capabilities these lathes bring into reach ]

Maybe Tom, but a Taig

Maybe Tom, but a Taig sure beats the #### out of a hand drill mounted in a vice. Been there, done that.

I had a taig it

I had a taig it was a nice little lathe. I now have a bigger G4000 Grizzly 9x20 lathe. I have have had a few problems with it. The quality on the asian machines is not as good as the ones made here. But alot cheeper. My best friend has a Sherline lathe and mill. They are strictly for small stuff but they are excellent machines. Alot better than my taig was. I would check E-bay and other places and look for a used Sherline if I was going to do it again. The smaller Grizzly Mini lathe (also sold by others) has a large following on the Net. Search the web, I found alot of info on fixes for the problems for my lathe up there. It now cuts alot better. I also have the Grizzly mini mill G8689. It is a great machine. I find I use the mill much more than the lathe anyway. Join the fun and (Throw some chip's) Good Luck.
