I wonder if what I did on a 8' Higgins PTB prop shafts and rudders will work on a diving subs planes, rudders and props.
I put all the 1/4" SS bearings in a small glass cup with a blob of front wheel bearing grease and then put it into a turned off oven that was at 300 degrees. Let them sit till grease was a liquid. Removed the cup and put it into the 5 degree freezer for about 1/2 hour. Removed them. At room temperature I slowely spun them with a drill to work out excess grease.
True, the boat is powered by a 41# trolling motor thru timing belts, but it has never leaked at any opening.
Can the grease hold against a worst case of 5' down ?
Thanks for any help.
