    WTC ballast tank...

    Hey,
I have a WTC(it doesn't have the auto air regulator thingy) and was wondering how far in I should glue the circular plexi disk in the ballast tank. Or should it be flush with the front of the Ballast end of the WTC? Also, how far from the stern should the WTC be located in a Thor Alfa?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Sounds like you have one

Sounds like you have one of my WTC’s, probably a 3.5” if it’s for a 72nd Alfa.
I would start with the end plate siliconed in about 1/8” from the end.
I would mount the WTC with the ballast tank centered on the boats center of buoyancy and weight; also add approximately 16oz of weight on the keel forward and an amount of floatation foam to make up for the weight in the keel, make sure the foam is mounted below the surfaced waterline if possible.
    Good luck!

    Dave.

Im nearing completion of my first submarine with no major screwups but I saved this part for last. When you glue it in, should I do it permantly 1/8" from the end or temporarily? How far is it usually in the Thor Alfa(I tested the tank and the propel seems to hiss out, not explode like on the movies is this right ) ? I have three 1500mha batteries in the front if that matters...
      Thanks, Tom

Do not permantly attach your WTC to the sub, you may need to remove it some day.

          Check out the click here

Check out the click here for Thor Design Permit Assembly Instructions that Matt has posted on his site. Although it shows a Permit being completed, much of what is depicted will directly transfer to the assembly of your Alfa.

By all means - DON'T cement your WTC into the boat. Make "U" shaped saddles for it to sit in, and hold the WTC down with rubber bands or velcro strips.

Im sorry I wasn't specific enough. I ment the front plexi glass circle that goes in your Ballast Tank. How far does that go in from the front?

            Thanks,
