Mounting WTC - How should I mount this thing

Hello, I been away from this hobby for about a year and I am coming back in. I am scratch building a new WTC for my Albacore sub and had a question. So who should I turn to but the excellent members of the Subcommittee....

I have just completed the ballast tank and I have started to ponder how I should mount the thing in the base.

cut a cradle from plastic for it to rest in and use rubberbands to hold it down?

Drill holes in it (in the WTC this scares me) and mount a small L shapped metal mount to screw it to a plastic mount as seen in jim butts sub?

Any suggestions or pics anyone has would be great.

Kyle......Welcome back....I hope you will rejoin the SubCommittee but that's you choice. Either of your suggestions will work and I usually place a small hole in the ballast tank and mount a pin of the same size directly under it. You can see technique if you go to Thordesigns website and look at his building of the Permit. Oh I'm sorry but there is no 'S' in Jim last name.

Hi Kyle, I have seen

Hi Kyle, I have seen many ways to mount the WTC from rubber bands to Velcro. They all work good and every one has there own way to do it. I normaly mount a cradles in the bottom of the sub that the end caps rest on. I use small brass pins that fit into holes in the cradle and the end caps. These keep the WTC from turning and sliding. Then I install brass screw eyes on the ends of the cradle. I just use tie wraps between the screw eyes to hold it down. It's easy to install and remove and the tie wraps are cheap. Good Luck, Dave.

The wood section just strengthens the sides, and it is heavily laminated mahogany (from a door).

The white sections are Simtek, a plastic board that a lot of scratchbuilders like because it's easily worked with and CA's nicely.

I'm at the final stages now.
