Anyone ever been on the real Blueback? - In Or-e-gon?

I have, I actually spent the night in the crew bunks, and let me tell you, she's tiny inside!! Definately not for people over 6' tall. It sure was fun though. I do have a bit of a funny story relating to this trip, while my tour group was in the sonar room, another was in the attack center; anyways, I truned a handle on one of the sonar displays at the exact moment the other group tested out the Dive Flaxen upstaris. I was scared s**tless, and when I went to move the handle back, they did the alarm again! All in all a great time, and I suggest that if you're ever near OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) that you go check it out!

    Yes, it's a great boat

Yes, it's a great boat and a must see for anyone traveling through Portland. I have been almost everywhere on the Blueback and was one of the crew the last time she was moved up the river. The view from the sail was fantastic as we were being buzzed by news helicopters as well as having people waving to us from the bridges as we passed under them. I have been almost everywhere on her and my son HAS been every where you can crawl to including down to the end of the torpedo tubes.

      The wife and I went

The wife and I went to Oregon this summer and I dragged her down to see the Blueback. I was used to the Ohios so this was really tiny, and I couldn't get over how the planes station and the engineering panels looked like the dials were inset in wood paneling like in my parents basement. By the way a short drive north in Seattle an ex-Soviet Foxtrot the Cobra is open for display. Its pretty cool but positively archaic inside with no system redundancy. Those guys had brass ones thats for sure
