Hello all,
Bill is having a few complications. He had an irregular heartbeat yesterday, which the surgeon said is not unusual after this surgery, but today his heartbeat is stabilized and normal. His urine was very murky yesterday, so he is on dialysis today. He is still on the respirator, although he is initiating each breath himself, and the respirator gives him extra oxygen. They are keeping him lightly sedated so that he won’t fight the respirator. Yesterday he had a fever and they gave him antibiotics as a precaution, but today his temperature is normal and all cultures were negative for any infection. The surgical team, nephrologists, etc., are telling me that because of his diabetes, his immediate recovery is going to take longer.
For some reason our phone voice mail is not recording very well, so if I don’t get back to you, it’s because I haven’t gotten the message. Believe me, your calls and e-mails mean so much.
