Help! Appropriate Submarine Radio - 72 MHZ to 75 MHZ?
Help! Appropriate Submarine Radio - 72 MHZ to 75 MHZ?
How would I go about making my 4 channel Expert radio work for a Dumas Akula? Can I swap-in a 75 MHZ crystal for the 72 MHZ one? I'm sure that the radio is of modular crystal design and it uses JR crystals. Does anyone know why the standard 72 MHZ radio wouldn't work? Thanks for the help.
Brady,
The radio on 72 MHz would "work". However, it is both dangerous and illegal. 72 MHz is reserved for use by aircraft only. If you were to turn your radio on in the presence of an aircraft on the same frequency, you could possibly cause it to crash, and maybe injure or kill someone!
You have several options]http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_wink.gif[/img]
Whichever you decide, please DO NOT use that 72 MHz unit as is.
Good luck with your decision!
