Just wanted to let all you Western States guys know that, if you're interested, a popular and surprisingly well-performing little R/C toy sub will once again be available from your local Big 5 Sporting Goods store. Look for it in the upcoming June 11th ad in your newspaper for $29.99.
Haven't seen this one around for awhile, but it's the same model Bob Marshall used to run trouble-free at the San Francisco Fall Fun Runs some years back. Here's a photo of his:
The re-release of this Swimline brand R/C sub is now solid yellow, but other than that it's the same thing: a sturdy little twin-thruster dynamic diver. As I say I remember how all of us at the Casting Ponds were quite amused by it: while the rest of us spent a lot of time tinkering with our expensive and finicky static-diving models, Bob just threw his in the water and played all day.
So, if you want an inexpensive boat the kids can run while you're on patrol with your big ones, or are just looking for something YOU can simply toss in any water anytime—tinker-free—for a quick and easy R/C sub fix, this may be just the ticket.
