Does anyone know of any builders other than David Merriman, Big Dave or Manfred ( MFR) who converted or is currently doing a conversion of the 23?

Re: Anyone else converted Bronco's 1/35 Type XXIII to RC
I did convert mine over to R/C. It is a very easy boat to convert. I made a different prop for it and replaced a couple of the appendages that I thought might be easily damaged. The boat handles very nicely, although it is a bit sluggish in turns.
I am using a very simple gas cylinder in it now. I started off with a pump version, but the pump had leaks in the housing so I am searching for a new make of pump to replace it with. Currently, the XXIII is sitting on the shelf, unpainted, while I get a few version of our new cylinder prepared to go out to a few friends as test platforms and getting my Permit, Sturgeon, and Kairyu ready for the SubRegatta in Keystone, Colorado in July.

Re: Anyone else converted Bronco's 1/35 Type XXIII to RC
Hi Andy,
It is a high volume, low pressure centrifugal cooling pump. I have a very nice one coming, but it is fairly expensive. We'll see how it works. The cheap pump from china was a complete piece of junk.

There is this company here in the UK. I haven't tried their pumps, but they look like high quality items, and they're very small units.

Matt,
Can you post some photos of your boat?

Certainly. I will put some photos up as soon as its painted. Its in its native plastic right now, and the cylinder is now in my Permit getting ready for the KeyStone Regatta.
Thanks for the link, Andy! Finding a good quality pump that will last is a challenge.

Matt

Re: Anyone else converted Bronco's 1/35 Type XXIII to RC
Andy,
It looks just like that pump you have shown here. It has a polycarbonate housing with a free floating rotor. The volute to the pump is threaded on to the front of the pump. 2.2 L/min. It worked well for about an hour of operation, then failed. The second pump didn't last as long as the first.

Got a pool run in. Here it is:
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Good job!
Can't wait to get mine...
Wonder how she behaves without an angle keeper.
