    For a number of years now, various pieces of the NR-1 have been sitting out in the weather on the Sub Base, just the other side of the parking lot fence of the Nautilus Museum in Groton.





    Hopefully, the appearance of this article is a sign that this remarkable vessel will soon get the proper display it deserves. BTW, for all those interested in the NR-1's history, I highly recommend the book "Dark Waters", co-written by former crew member Lee Vyborny. His account of NR-1's many non-military missions (the only ones that have been de-classified) make for a non-stop read.

      The NR-1 Book

      The Lee Vyborny book mentioned above can be read online at the link below. It is an excellent account of the very early years of the NR-1.
