What is the best paint to use

    Hi

I just finished my first submarine. It was very nice until I did my first trial in the indoor pool of my building. After one hour in the water, the black paint turned white in some places.

I used Krylon flat black with a coat of flat clear.

Is it because of the chlorine in the water?

What should I use to get a nice finish that will last.

    Thanks

    Did you let the pait

Did you let the pait cure fully? I've had no problems with krylon. I've used black, brown primer, and satin and matt clear . . . all with no problems. I've also used krylon clear coats over polyscale. Works fine.

      Krylon paints work fine. Shake

Krylon paints work fine. Shake well before you apply, especially the 'clear coatings'. Avoid playing with your newly painted sub too soon. Lash/tie yourself to a mast head or something so the paint dries throughly first.

      Just a suggestion.

        Krylon paint works fine *UNLESS*

Krylon paint works fine *UNLESS* you are using their latex enamel.

The symptoms you describe are exactly those if a clearcoat of the latex enamel (instead of the arylic) is used.

If this explains what is happening in your case, I'd recommend lightly sanding the clearcoat and re-applying the arcrylic clearcoat in its place. If you also used the latex for the color coat, you might want to consider stripping and re-painting.

Thanks. Reading all this, I think it is a combination of all this.
I didn't let the paint dry completly before each coat and it was clear latex.

          Thanks again.

In that case (having used latex), it mkaes no difference how long the paint was allowed to dry....it will still fog.
