I watched that program when it was first on TV. They asked a lot of intriguing questions but I didn't think they were able to really pin down if it ever worked. That said, it sure looks like it could have once worked!

Something in between a diving bell and a submarine. It was brilliantly designed and definitely on its way to a modern submarine.
John Holland was a contemporary and must have been following the news of the submarine build.
Could he have even met the builder ?
