Really interesting; thanks for posting. Here's some more information on the printer used: http://objet.com/3d-printers/connex/objet-connex500
It can use different materials in each construct, and the layers are 10 micrometers thick, so high resolution, indeed.
However, the printer currently costs about $600,000, so I don't think I'll run right out and get one....
The lower resolution Object 24 is a bargain at only $19,900. Materials run another $150-175.
Give it another 10-15 years...

Technology is moving along quicker than you think. A sub £1000 machine shown at work in this video-
That one comes as a kit which you have to put together. Another team in the States has come up with a sub $2500 machine that prints with a stereolithography process- I guess sometimes you look backwards in order to go forward.
What really needs to improve is the 3D software. Most of it is expensive and difficult to use. I estimate in 5 years these machines will be below $1000, and you'll be able to draw out what you want on smart phones and tablets. These are the obvious choice for 3D modelling, because of the tactile interface.
