Polaris Sub from Comic Books: Reality Bites!

Sure, those of us of a certain age all remember that advertisement on the inside cover of the comic books:

I mean, it promised something that looked like a miniature Polaris submarine!!
But, what did you really get when you scrapped together $7.00 (plus 75 cents shipping) to buy one of these submarine kits? Remember, $7.00 was a small fortune in the 1960's; a Renwal Polaris cutaway model was only $2.99, for comparison,
Well, for all of us who never had the cash and wanted one of these very badly, you can finally get over it!
Because, here's what it actually looked like when delivered and assembled][/url]

Looks more like an F-117 than a Polaris sub...

You're just disappointed that it didn't really come with a working nuclear reactor.

          Very funny, Jeff!

'Please add another $2.00 for a working nuclear reactor.' Ha, Ha!

I remember seeing this in my comic book. If I only had $7.73...

It's not really much, it is indeed small, the ad shows the kids way too small, out of proportion, etc.

My mother ordered one for me around 1966. She was so mad when she found out what it was, she sent it back for a refund. Don't know if she ever got her money back.

That's the most blatant bit false advertising I ever seen in my life.
