    Too bad Dave doesn't sell

Too bad Dave doesn't sell a torpedo kit like that.

      [color=#000000]Hi Antoine,

the photos are simply amazing...I'm really impressed by the mechanical skills of Dave Merriman...realizing a fully functional 1/72 torpedo and a complete 7 tubes launcher unit is a very BIG challenge, and he made it...unbelievable!
      My only question is]

I think Merriman made a deal with the devil himself. No one can be that multi-talented.

            Wow!!!! Great Boat!

            One question

            Wow!!!! Great Boat!

One question though... Does the Alfa have enough room for angle keeper and depth control ect? Or is it "stripped" for space for the fish?

              Hi All,

              I'm giving a closer

              Hi All,

I'm giving a closer look to the photos, and, of course, many questions arise about such an incredible launcher.
Okay, Dave can't sell these units and it's right, but, can someone explain to "us poor mortals " how this incredible launcher functions?
Propel is used to send the fish out of the tube, but how can Dave launch 7 torpedoes with only one servo?

                Not a direct answer to

Not a direct answer to your question but a possible solution. I have seen a 4 tube launcher somewhere with electric solenoids firing the fish. The guy that built this contraption made an electronic counter that counted how often a receiver went to full deflection (2ms) and related that to the tube to be fired. 2 times full deflection was fire tube two.

If I look very deep into my archive I may find it again of you are interested. Of course with a pic processor it should not be hard to accomplish either.

The Alfa is a VERY roomy boat. It has more than enough room for the APC & ADC and whatever electronics you choose to install in it.

                    This is a shot of

This is a shot of the demo board Dave had at SubRegatta 2003 to show how it worked. The single servo pulled an escapment mechanism (as in a wind up clock) that fired each fish in sequence.

Quite ingeneous and it did work.
