    On\Off switch

I'm looking for some type of an on/off switch. I want to be able to shut off the battery without taking out the WTC and physcially unplugging the batery. Is there anything magnetic as I'm not too keen in drilling into the WTC.

Excuse me if this has been brought up before, but I'm just coming back into the hobby................

    Thx

    Re: On\Off switch

    Hi Farlan,

Some folks use a magnetic reed switch and relay combination for this. Engel offers them as part of their kits and (I believe) sells them separately.

For my OTW Type VII I used a simple slide switch that I placed in a 1-inch tube with a SubTech BHS seal on one end and the two terminals on the other. Think "mini dive module". The BHS seal has a brass rid through it that is connected to the slide switch...a simple push/pull turns the sub on/off.

I use an circutboard swtich with an bts555 and redd contacts you need only an magnet to switch on and off.

I use a mini toggle switch with a waterproof rubber boot.

I was going to use a reed switch, controlling a small relay. Place the magnet and you are powered up.
Only minor issue might be that the relay coil will draw power, but I don't think it will be that bad.

You use a bi-stable relay and two reed switches. The relay latches one way or the other, so the coils only draw power whilst being switched.
