Sad News - Steve Jensen's passing

I just heard from Al Bass - an old time SC member and close friend of Steve Jensen - that Steve passed away last night. As you probably remember - Steve has been the main guy - along with Tom Wise in the radio impound at the SubRegatta. Steve recently started building sheet metal sub cases and they were promoted in the SCR a couple of months ago.

Steve was a Viet Nam vet and drove semi trucks for a number of years - including a stint as the semi driver for the band CHICAGO. Steve was a background singer on one of their albums.

Later - he took over his father's sheet metal roofing business in Chicago and retired from that a couple of years ago and moved full time to Mineral Point Wisconsin where he did part time sheet metal work for the locals and also was an accomplished sculptor with copper art in a number of local galleries in Wisconsin. All his SubRon6 buddies will miss him terribly.

    Tim Smalley
    Past SC president.

    Very sad news Tim.
One of the highlights of the Carmel regattas was picking up the radios from Tom and Steve in the impound.
Steve would always put a smile on your face. He will be missed. BD.

That is very sad news Tim. Patti and I always enjoyed Steve's sense of humor and company when we attended the Carmel regattas. As Dave said, it was always an experience trying to get your radio out of the impound when Tom and Steve were on duty. Steve will be sorely missed by both of us as well. We wish we had known him longer, and send our condolences to his family.

Talk about a guy that was full of life...It's unthinkable that he is really gone. His passing leaves all of us a little poorer. He will be missed.

One of the things I remember most about SubRegatta 2006 was the radio impound and the wonderful job Steve and Tom did. My condolences to Steve's family.
          Warm regards,

Oh my God! Unbelievable. Steve was a gruff guy, and that was his character, but one of the friendliest people I have ever known. Man. Will miss him greatly.
Thank you Tim for letting us know.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I remember the first time I tried to get my radio from impound, I thought I might have the bribe them or buy a new one. Those two were a pair, and they could keep a straight face while keeping your radio! Steve was one of a kind. Great guy and will truly be missed.

Steve always gave me my Tx when I needed it. But when I returned it, he would give a laugh and mark 'channel hog' on his sheet! We will miss you, old friend.
