Thanks to BD's heads-up I caught a little of the show-
Rocket City Rednecks are a couple of physicists/scientists, retired NASA machinist and friends that live in Huntsville Ala.
They all speak with the local drawl, and after filling a chalkboard with equations, they proceed to shoot guns, blow stuff up real good, and in this episode build a 2-man sub. Pretty entertaining.
And, a reminder that post-campus real-world genius comes in many packages-how you look or sound is irrelevant.
Doubtful this show is on the White House DVR.

I actually saw that one but it is not the sub show I was referring too.
This show is called "How hard could it be"
They build a deep diving remote controlled sub. I have not recorded it yet so I just have the TV info to go by.

I will say the redneck submarine one was a good lesson on how not to build a submarine. The to guys inside were almost killed as the design was a death trap.
But it did work for a while. BD.
