    Server space for images?

Do any members think it would be a good idea to have server space to upload images?
When these post image sites no longer exist or become to bothersome won't all the
image links break and SC will loose the contents of threads.

Since the price of the SC Report has reduced in price how about adding to the price
to fund server space to upload images?

    Scott,
I absolutely think it would be nice.
It is frustrating seeing a post that says this is exactly what your looking for, only to find the link non-existant. Some posts are not that long ago, one maybe two years ago. I think it would benefit the member body. Members get a webpage, i believe, do those stay active even after a member is not?
    Peace,
    Tom

Members can already utilize the main SC web page to upload photos and link to them from the forum.......

You'll need to contact the webmaster to set up an account.....

I have found it to be a hassle to log into my account on the Main SC web page, upload the image,
then come back to the message board and attach it to my message thread.

Maybe we could change it so a paid member could upload images to the message board .
Or is this not possible on the message board?

Asking for the moon and stars! Would a link to open the main SC web page in a new tab be able
to be placed on the message board page or better yet at the top of the post entry page?
There is a link to the message board from the main SC web page.
This would facilitate moving back and forth between pages when wanting to upload images.
I can do it the old fashion way and pick from favorties though.

        Thanks for considering!

          Scott,

...yea, the two logins is a hassle.....no argument there!

I am hopeful that the two sites that the SC has today (web site and forum site) will be collapsed into a single site sometime early next year. Once that is done, I think it will be possible to allow photo uploads to the SC site directly from the forum.....

            Hi all,

Just to give you an idea about the implications of storing pictures on the server.
I investigated this and it is technically quite possible to store pictures on the forum server.
The problem is that I cannot limit the use after switching it on.

The question is if the club wants to risk some lowlife using it for viagra ads, kiddyporn,
bomb manuals, and illegal software, to name a few creative uses of this functionality ?

When we offer this at all with the current forum software, then we need volunteers to
guard and manage it on a permanent basis.

            I'm not available for that.

I concluded that the risk was not worth the effort with the possibilities
(and level of volunteers) we have right now.

I cannot really limit the use to paid members, btw.
You can in theory, but someone savvy can easily circumvent it.

            Regards,
            Ronald
