F-14 Receiver conversion - Converting for the 8th channel

I have been using a Robbe 14 radio now for some time on surface skimmers. Now that I am venturing into the murky depths I have expanded the radio transmitter for all 8 channels. In the manual for the F 14 I read that to use the 8th channel on the receiver the receiver needs to be modified – which means a trip to the factory. Once the modification is done then a “Y” connector is used on channel 7 output for both channel 7 & 8.
I wondering if anyone knows how to make the modification to the receiver? Otherwise I guess it’s a shipment to G-land for the change – and another 3 or 4 week wait.
It also occurs to me that Robbe and Futaba is very similar, makes me wonder if the R127-DF receiver might be able to be expanded. Any ideas?

    thanks

      Thanks Ed

I will keep that in mind. If I can't learn how to do it myself.
