    SCR Issue 49 (June 2002)

SCR Issue 49 (June 2002) has an article by Gary Hethcote
on how he made the conversion to a static system on his U-47 (using a gas system.)
Gary has also documented how he did it on his website
Gary Hethcote's website on improving the U-47

      Tim,

      It looks like this chap

      Tim,

It looks like this chap wants to use an Engel (piston) tank in his sub. I think the site you referred him to uses a gas ballast system.

There was an article written in the Sub Committee report a while back detailing the fitting of an Engel tank in the U47.

Jeff LaRue(or someone else) may be able to tell you the issue number.

      Regards

      Andy

        Yepper - I remember that

Yepper - I remember that one, but I can't remember which issue it was. Maybe Sept 01 #46? I see that Clive Wadsworth had an article about the U-47 but I can't find that issue at the moment.

Anyway - I thought he might get some ideas by seeing another man's approach to the same project. Ya can't have too much information when it comes to subbin'!

          Tim and Andy thank you

[color=#000000]Tim and Andy thank you very much for the help.
I have looked at the article on Gary Hethcote’s web site and found it to be an interesting application of the Robart system. I wonder if Gary told Robart of the application of their retract system – it might make an interesting commercial for them.

Gary does refer to an article by “Clive Wadsworth published his excellent article, The Robbe U-47]

              ...and you can send your

[color=#000000]...and you can send your membership in electronically (via e-mail) to Jim as well. All he really needs is your snail-mail address and credit card information.

Since the December issue will not go to press until early November, it won't make any real difference which way you get the information to Jim.

              (...and btw]
              Rohr 1.....Los!
