Hello!

I am David from Salisbury in the UK.

I have an interest in the WW2 and later submarines of all navies, but (not surprisingly) Britain and Germany. Ive been fortunate enough to go on board several RN boats and one Type vii U Boat (the Birkenhead U 534) before she was chopped up.

I am now about to commence building my first RC submarine, fitted for static diving, with my three young sons. Anything tio keep them interested in the workshop! I have about forty years RC aeroplane experience behind me for this project!

Anyway, thats me!

Hi David,

Your experience with aero modelling will be valuable with subs, I've always considered aeroplanes have far more in common with subs than boats/ships do.

Welcome to the hobby! You've come to the right place to learn about the hobby and to share your experiences. Lot's of really good people here.

A number of us liken r/c subs to flying r/c airplanes....just slower and much less likely to end up "re-kitting" them.

BTW, the u-boat at Birkenhead was Type IX not a Type VII.
