Hello everyone,
It's been a long time I haven't posted here. I am glad to introduce you a very cool iPhone/iPad app that should be a must have for all of you who are space program fans.
As you certainly know the Space Shuttle lives its last days before its retirement, it will be the end of an era. I was born with the Shuttle like many of you and I simply cannot imagine the space adventure without her.
While I was looking for more informations about its two last flights (STS-134 and hopefully STS-135), I found by chance certainly the best app I've ever played on my iPhone. It's called F-Sim, programmed by a lone genius Sascha Ledinsky who managed to put a real shuttle sim in a small iPhone (or a bigger iPad). With this sim, you'll be able to fly the last phase of a shuttle mission, the landing. It recreates all the navigation and guidance system that helps the Orbiter to find the runway and lands safely on it.
As the shuttle commander, you'll be able to fly the +100 tons flying brick with the help of the HUD that is accurately simulated as well as all its different modes. With the help of the pilot (the co-pilot), you should gently touchdown the runway at the nominal touchdown zone.
Navigating in its different menus, you can set the sim to fly under many different conditions (daylight, night, winds, overcast...), all these factors will affect the gliding ability and your approach.
About the environnement, Sascha used satellite views to simulate the areas (KSC and Edwards AFB). The 3D is simply awesome for a phone game. The programmer keeps updating his app and the next major update will add the replay ability and the external views.
But stop talking, check by yourself here :

I had to post this topic, it may shock people who will think it is only an ad for another iPhone app, it is not really. I litterally fell in love with this sim that one of best I've ever played (whatever the computer).
