The exterior torpedo tube shutters are molded into the hull as is all of the other detail. David, however, out did himself on this boat and has made all of the tubes operational! Due to insurance liability issues we do not manufacture or sell working torpedo kits. It is a pretty awesome achievement by David Merriman on this boat.
you must repeat what you just said...1/72 operational torpedoes??? I can't believe that Dave made it possible...can we get some details of this absolutely amazing system?
It would be a nice addition on all 1/72 subs!!

That is a amazing. Please give us more details. On a side not, you should mold the open torpedoe tubes into the kit.
Personally, I think it's probably easier to open up beautifully molded and scribed doors for working torpedos, than trying to put the doors over open holes!!
Here is a shot of the demo board Dave built to show how his 1/72 torps work. He uses an escape mechanism, similar to that in a clock, to fire the fish one by one using only one servo. Very cool!
Today I posted about 30 more photos from THE 2003 SubRegatta on my website including some close ups of Dave's Alfa so you might get a better look at the boot topping (the white stripe around the middle you've been talking about.) Go to RC-Submarines.com and scroll down to "What's New 09/08/03"
