Plans for Type XXI Uboat?

Guys,

I remember years ago that some crazy man in the SC built a ten or twelve foot Type XXI uboat. I can't find that issue of the SCR but I am getting the itch to maybe build one of my own.

Does anyone know where I might get some blueprints, contour maps or anything of the sort for this boat?

I have the 144th scale Revell kit (just came in the mail today!) So I guess I could scale it up. But ready made and accurate plans would be a plus.

If you want to build a Type XXI with any degree of accuracy stay away from the Taubman plans....They are not very accurate. Find a copy of the Fritz Khol plans and make whatever adjustments for scale that you must.

I definitely agree with Matt's assessment. Also, if you cannot find the drawings set done by Fritz Kohl, then the next best thing is to acquire a copy of the book [i]Anatomy of the Ship]....the Kohl plans are in there in reduced size (from the original 1/50th scale.

From all appearances I think Gantu sent me those exact plans last week. I just have to print them out in a usable size. I wonder if Kinkos can print from a flashdrive? That would save me printing them out in 8.5 X 11 and then having them blow it up on their blueprint machine.

If not a Kinkos, then most architectural blueprint shops should be able to take the flashdrive and print it directly.

Hey! I think I know just the place if it's still in business. I bought a few Olfa blades and accessories there a few years ago. I will have to call them on Monday.

No worries. What you have sent me so far will get me started. Not that I don't have other projects already in line.

Let me see . . . 72nd scale type XXIII --- check. 144th scale type XXI --- check. Polishing the plans for 72nd scale Jules Verne NAUTILUS --- check.
I hope to be cutting foam for that last one in the list when I go on vacation in two weeks.

I just printed the plans you sent me and they are spot on!
The blueprint shop did not have to resize even a little bit. With these and Steve Neill's "For Dumb Asses" printed out I am all set to making this boat in 72nd scale!
I will start a builder's thread when I begin to make progress.
