    Fleet Boat Files

In this section I am going to be posting little "snipets" of info and pictures designed to wet the appetite and encourage further research. This info I came across and found it to be new to me although others may find it to be "old hat"

This is a live fire exercise using actual warshots in practice against Bald Porcupine Is. Maine. The Torpedo was fired by SS-409 Piper in Oct. 1944.

This is the Sennet SS-408 during operation Highjump in March of 1947.

Here is a Seafox also known as a long tail shark. It was used to represent the SS-402 Seafox.

The cristening of the Redfish SS-395. There were 4 boats launched that day. Quite a media circus.

The Redfish is the submarine used in making the film Run Silent, Run Deep starring Clarke Gable. This picture is in the Arctic icepack in 1953.
