    SubCommittee Staff Position's need filling

Let me say Happy Easter to everyone.

At present the Subcommittee is looking for someone to fill the following positions on the Subcommittee Staff

    1) Membership Chairmen
    2) Advertisement Chairmen
    3) SubCommittee Report Editor

If anyone is interested please feel free to contact myself, Chris Campbell, or Skip Asay

Note some members have expressed interest in the positions but it is not up to me to just fill the position’s it is the job of the election committee so please make a formal request and your names will be submitted to the election committee.

Please realize this is not the responsiblity of the EC but that I am asking the EC to assist in picking the correct person to fill each of these positions on the SC Staff

    Thank You

Myles, is the Membership Chairman position filled? If not I am interested? I have experience in the field with the Naval Submarine League, Nautilus Chapter as previous membership cahairman and the Treasurer. I also arranged the Credit Card Transactions with a Bank for the SCR.

Re: SubCommittee Staff Position's need filling

        Folks,

I am pleased to announce that the SubCommittee has a new Managing Editor.

Over the past several months there has been a lot of back-and-forth discussion between Myles Yancey and myself about what it would take for me to resume the position of Managing Editor on a permanent basis. As many of you know, this is not a position that I wanted to resume for a number of reasons.

To be honest, this was a difficult decision on my part. Eventually I determined that the principle thing needed was to ensure the continuing health of the SCR by having more regular columnists covering more than just R/C modeling. There are two reasons for this. First, I wanted to see us get back to having more variety in what is covered...a broader coverage of submarine-related topics if you will.

Second, I wanted to find a way to ensure that a majority of pages in each issue are filled on a regular basis thereby minimizing the effort needed on my part to scare up articles, which over the past several years has been the biggest issue facing the Managing Editors.

I placed my request on the table and waited to see if Myles could make good on it. And he did. So here I am…again!

I am very pleased to announce that starting with this issue; the following new and existing columnists will be regularly seen in the SCR:
        • • Basic Molding & Lighting by Aimee Eng
          • The Engineering Deck by Matt Thor
          • The Fox Schedule by Andy Lawrence
          • How it Works by Skip Asay
          • Smoke on the Horizon by Paul Crozier
          • Static on the Line by Tom Dougherty
          • SubBooks by Jeff Porteous
          • The Submarine Historian by Tim Smalley
          • Submarine Model Building by Steve Neill

We are always interested in adding more submarine-related columns. If you have an idea for a column, especially if you are interested in writing that column, please contact me.

So with that, I hope you enjoy the coming June issue, as well as those that follow!

        -many thanks,

        Jeff

Jeff you give to much credit, I just did what any good President would have done to insure the health and the continued existence of the SC Report, anyway let me be the first to say
thank you for coming back, and we will be looking forward to the new look of the SC Report. Again thank you and good hunting.
