I would support Steve`s view point as to keep the paper issue for all of the reasons that Steve has mentioned and a few of my own.I have very little knowledge on the computer and I don`t have all of the bells and whistles that are needed to do all of these wonderful things that are being discussed here.

All right, John. I think that we get it that you have some kind of preference for using SD cards for distributing the SCR.

That said. it's time to kill this SD card idea.

If, as you assume, someone has the knowledge and comfort level to deal with plugging an SD card into their computer in order to access an issue of the SCR, then that same person can be said to be at least equally comfortable with downloading the magazine from a web site. As far as I am concerned, this amounts to a similar delivery method (e.g. electronic version of the SCR) but without the costs associated with purchasing SD cards for every issue and then paying a company to burn copies of the SCR to the cards. (and let's not go down the path of talking about assuming that those cards get returned be everyone 4 times a year!)

As I stated before, discussing a delivery method appears to be getting the cart before the horse. Without knowing what the future of the SCR is to be, we're getting ahead of ourselves. So can we please figure out *if* the SCR is going to change and what it will change into first?

Re: Poll for electronic SCR - PDF

John I just bought my wife a basic desk top the other day for email, web and MSW. That's all she needs. It doesn't even have an SD slot. That times how many more out there with basic PC needs that don't have one? My daughter's 1100 dollar MAC note book doesn't have one. What??

The other thing that bugs me about electronic is everyone is in the self publishing biz on line. So anyone can do it. But a real published printed magazine always has more prestige for me. I'm much more impressed when a friend gets his master piece model on the cover of AMA's model aviation, or SCR, than some Webzine. It just lacks luster. Whether CD, DVD, SD card or PDF download it's just not the same thing. And then there's the fun of actually getting something you look forward to in the mail.

I do book covers to for a living in addition to my many other skills. But since books are more and more going electronic I get less call for it(puts me out of a job!). And some of the books I've already done are not even released for those book readers with my covers.

I'm done. You all know how I feel and judging by the pole I'm not alone by a long shot. All this new technology for me is a white wash. Technology can not and should not replace books, candle light and all the rest. Soon we'll have electronic fire places and burning wood will be illegal. Implants in our arms to replace ID and credit cards. Key less entry to cars. NEVER. We are slowly going the way of the Borg IMHO.

            John,

Look...you've been pushing the SD card idea well beyond what is reasonable. Each time you have mentioned it, I and others have responded in the spirit of an open discussion. But it has now become a case of beating a dead horse. Why you consider that 'alienation' is beyond me.
