    Re: March 2010 SubCommittee Report

I'll be glad to start a thread, but I do not want to be the principle 'driver' in this discussion. Regardless of what the SubCommittee chooses to do, it's time for some other/new folks to step up to the plate.

Start with a poll of how many people even no what a PDF is. You'll be surprised. I run into it all the time with my book. "Where's the book? All I have is picture files."

I know my way around a computer and it's functions well. Because I work with them for a living and have been brought up on them since the first main frames in the late 60's. But I even find young people that write me and ask what a PDF is. The rest print my book out.

If you make the SCR electronic only you will also loose membership I feel. I like have a nice collection of boos and SCRs. Print isn't o and low tech. It's a way of life. Even Captain Pichard sits down to a nice book in Star Trek. I sincerely hope that's the case in our distant future.

I think that Jeff is right so I suggest you start the poll and we will see where that leads us.
Steve your the lead for taking the poll thanks for volunteering.
now all you have to do is come up with the questions.

                  Hi Steve

There's nothing like striking while the iron is still hot.
Like I said thanks for volunteering Steve.

Every thing revolves around the fact that we find and editor.
The ideas that are starting to show up all sound good.

I can't find where to start a new topic?
I have an idea for a raffle that would create an ambassadorship exchange for our members.
Members could purchase raffles tickets throughout the year and the winner can win an expense-free trip to a European submarine regatta and the 2nd place winner a trip to an American regatta. The European winner would of course travel to America and American winners go to Europe. This would bring about good exchange of friendship and knowledge of rc submarines. This would also do more for membership registrations than anything else!
If 640 members bought one raffle ticket at $25.00 each, this would generate $16,000.00,enough to send 2 winners and their crated rc submarine across the pond!I would be enticed to buy at least 2 tickets!
Here is an interesting suggestion what do other members thnk about this idea.

It's a nice enough idea, but I think it assumes a lot, for instance that 640 members will want to cough up $25 for raffle tickets.

Is finance really the problem within our organisation? Last I heard we were solvent, but lacking volunteers and a shortage of copy and/or fresh content for the magazine. Not sure how extra bucks is going to solve that one.

You are correct, about what you are saying .

The Thread "The Future of the SC Report" has been moved to THE WARDROOM in the paid members section.
The Poll has also been moved to the Wardroom and made a lot easier to understand all paid members please revote.

                              Thank You

                                John,

You can't really use the prior raffle as an example. The S-class kit was donated by OTW.
