Who does acrylic tube in the uk???

    As above...

Need some idea of companies that produce acrylic tube in the uk.

100mm length unsure at the moment.

Also anyone know who does smaller tubing for housing mains batteries in say 1" tube for keel mounting incl end caps??

As i dont want to install the batteries within main wtc compartment.

Planning on using A123 cells and not lipo.

    Thanks

Haven't found any cheaper than clear plastic supplies on ebay-

    http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Clear-Pla ... QQ_armrsZ1

You can see for yourself that they do just about every size under the sun, and they offer it in lengths of 50cm and 100cm.

      Cheers Andy.

      Cheers Andy.

Received an email with this link

      http://www.westwardplastics.co.uk/sp_ac ... d_tube.php

They do 150mm outside measure and 140m internal with a 5mm wall
      2mtr lengths as standard

Im assuming that this is suitable for alfa application and that if i use piston tanks the preassure wont bother the cyclinder with that wall thickness.

Now for end caps..... Anyone help out on this????

      Regards

        Well you didn't mention 150-200mm

Well you didn't mention 150-200mm in your original post, or 5mm wall thickness.

The prices from that company look somewhat eye watering compared to clear plastics, but it's your money. I wouldn't worry about pressure from the tanks, you won't burst a cylinder with the few psi from those, and the extra pressure will help guard against static water pressure.

You can use acrylic sheet for endcaps, or PVC or polycarbonate. The latter two are a bit more forgiving machining wise. PVC is generally filled, so is opaque. Polycarbonate is clear, so if you want a completely clear cylinder then that's the stuff to go for.

I would aim for 12mm thick endcaps minimum for a module this size. I would also use axial compression for the o-rings, as the internal accuracy of acrylic tubing is very variable, especially at larger diameters.

          Hey

          Andy totally my fault forgot

          Hey

Andy totally my fault forgot to post size's for wtc

Memory serves Alfa wtc 42"x6" .....

Engel Tanks thinking about using 825ml/ possibly 1000ml.

Had response from company link above.

          Hi Adam

Here are the prices for products requested

          100 x 90 x 5mm wall = £56.95 per 2mtr length
          150 x 140 x 5mm wall= £81.74 per 2mtr length

Carriage to yourself, £15.00 and all prices are exclusive of VAT
Hope that helps in your deliberations.

          All the best

Chris mentioned that he could produce a wtc for the Alfa incl end caps.
I prefer to see the internals of Wtc. And Pvc pipe that Chris uses wouold hide everything away.

Anyone any comments on the size of Tanks under consideration???

Thanks for the help so far Andy.

          best regards

            3mm wall thickness is adequate

3mm wall thickness is adequate for the job, especially for the 100mm pipe.

            100 x 94 x 3mm wall= £12.20

            150 x 144 x 3mm wall= £17.84

They combine shipping, and also do flat sheet. Double the cost if you want two meters of each, it's still a lot less.

                You really need to have

You really need to have the hull in your hands to properly assess the size of ballast tanks required.
