Sorry, but only users granted special access can read topics
I can't get in either. And not that I don't like the name "The Lounge" but how about calling it the Ward Room or the Crews Mess. It would at least stick with the submarine motive.
you should all be able to get in, unless you forgot to log on.
i.e. if you cannot get into the Ward Room, but you can get into the other member-only sections there is something weird going on and
I would like a PM in such a case.
I am now thinking...if ward room access was set up based on records of current paying membership....maybe the count for paying membership is incorrect & has been grossly underestimated. (At least judged by some of us dues payers that cannot access the lounge)!
I recall this sort of confusion on that "other" submarine website a while back. I better start looking for my cancelled checks if that episode repeats here....
I'm not an official here any longer, but as membership chair for almost 8 years I think I can safely answer.
I'll ask you to PLEASE read and understand what has been said and repeated many times here about this before making accusations or getting bent about having to get access straightened out.
There is NO (zip, zero, zilch, naught, nada, NONE!!) relationship between the membership chairman's database of paid members and the website administrator's granting access. It's not automatic, folks. For YOUR security and the security of your personal information, the membership list is maintained by the membership chairman, and him alone. The webmaster has to verify paid status with that list.
Try it this way: there is no magic black box or all-knowing software running on some mainframe somewhere that as soon as you are paid changes your access to this site.
When you pay, the VOLUNTEER membership chairman has to make that entry in his database when his schedule permits. When you request status change on the site, the VOLUNTEER webmaster in his available time has to verify your paid status with the VOLUNTEER membership chairman when his schedule allows. After that happens, the VOLUNTEER webmaster has to make the change to your status when his schedule allows.
This does NOT happen instantly.
Just a little bit of patience and understanding before you start flinging accusations of incorrect recordkeeping or other such nefarious dealings is in order. The VOLUNTEERS who dedicate their time to this organization with nothing more than the hope of growing the hobby as a return deserve better than this crap.

SubCommittee member #0069 (since the dawn of time.....)
And if I may add just one remark: if any of those critics think they know better and can do better, come forward and SHOW IT! It's so darned easy to comment from the side-line...
I will state it again as well as I have in, I think, 3 other threads. If you do not have access email me your name and your user name and it WILL be fixed.

Very well put Jim!
They do deserve better, I am greatful to all past & current officers of SC!
I should have been more careful.
My apologies!

If it is the site I'm thinking of, they too are staffed with VOLUNTEERS. Same as the SC, only fewer in number.
Seems in this day of instant gratification, basic skills such as patience have been lost...
