Interesting show, though it would have been better viewed with the sound turned off. The artificial and inaccurate fact-based 'excitement' that was used throughout really was unnecessary...even my wife noted that.

            well....

            afterall it's national geographic......
I had a science teacher in middle school.... she was SOOOO fine.....
But her dad was a greenpeace skipper on that boat that had been so famous back in the 80's. He got hurt somehow and our teacher went to help out for a few weeks on board that old tub.
She came back from the trip like an eco warrior.

Now, I'm not the seal killer kinda guy, nor do I think we should be stupid with our planetary resources but his lady made us watch any and all National Geographic films, Ecology propaganda films, even stuff she got from her dad. I had her the next two years for my science teacher.

We didnt think she was so hot after that time.

Have no illusions: like any other political organization their main goal is to gain power so they can make changes aligned with their cause. Unfortunately power corrupts and somehow the original cause gets lost after the power shows up.

I support public awareness but Sigorny Weaver does those programs and the script is just way too insulting to the average intelligence.
Actually has the opposite effect on me.

            Just my two cents worth.
            Have a nice day

              Jeff,
That is typical reality TV suspense buildup.
That is why I do not watch it.
I just like the cool pretty pictures.
Now the video content was COOL!! BD.

My favorite part is when they said it was built to take a nuclear blast then acted all worried when it rubbed a floating stantion...... OK is it buit tough or not. I know the russians suck when it comes to radiological controls but the worry with the used RC compartment wasnt really there. That part was nail pulling for me. Other then that the pictures were worth the watch. Not to mention getting peak of the inside. Just so massive. The pool was bigger then I thought as well!

100% correct, Jeff. I got tired of hearing how the drydock, if it came too close, could breach the hull exposing radiation. Trouble is, it would have to go through the hull and pressure hull and a lot more first. But, credit given to the Russians for a look at part of the reactor which you could never film here. Even the Nautilus reactor room is still off limits to this day. Like it's still a state secret.

                        That is the one thing

That is the one thing that I thought it would be cool to see the first time I visited the Nautilus back in the 90's. I asked the tour guide where is the reactor. O! The reactor is still off limits!! Bummer!!
Still a tour worth taking!! BD.

Yeah let me tell you Dave there is a reason its still off limits. You know the entire aft end is set up for tours. Even the reactor comp upper level. They just didnt want the risk of incidental exposure....

Is that the only reason? Geezz, now I'm really disappointed we couldn't see it. Hmmm.. maybe some local Qualified Nuke could arrange for a personal tour some time, eh?
