Did anyone hear what the outcome was from the undersea collision of the U.S. sub and the seamountain that happened a few years ago? Any repercussions for the crew?
On a lighter note, this appeared in today's newspaper.
The USS San Francisco has been repaired, and there will be a return to service ceremony shortly, probably in her new home port of San Diego. San Francisco's bow section was replaced with that of the the retired USS Honolulu (SSN-718) at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Though the San Francisco is four years older than the Honolulu, she was refueled and upgraded in 2000-2002, and would be operational until 2017. The cost of the bow replacement has been estimated at $79 million, as compared to $170 million to refuel the reactor on the Honolulu. See link:
