    Dumas Akula Upgrades

Would anyone out there be interested in an upgrade fittings kit for the Dumas Akula. It would include a stern planes bow planes rudder and some of the assorted details dumas left out like various sensors and seawater induction scoops.

                  Is there any way

                  Hi Kevin,
Is there any way to make the missile hatches fit a scale ship yard hull?
If so what kind of cake are you looking for?
                  Or would you take cookies?
                  Please let me know .
                  Paul

Back to the topic of Dumas Akula Upgrade parts........

                    Kev,
I'd try it if it was the last hope.

I just can't believe ALL the MASTERS of modeling on this website and none of them are willing to step up on this.
I'd like to think this would be a small thing to them.
After all these guys are Kings of fiberglass and resins.
I get my fingers stuck together with super glue and have to call for help for gosh sakes. lol

well my dad always said, 'If you want something done with mistakes do it yourself'.
                    lol

                      I think that it has

I think that it has more to do with the fact that the boat is not a scale/ detailed model in the first place and only a few people have even bothered taking it up a notch, like crazy Ivan, big dave and myself. I believe Big Dave did make master for the boat at one time but i am not sure where they went.

On the other hand i did give my dad one and perhaps some better parts would inspire him. Let me see what kind of time I have to put into the thing between my other projects. More intrest would be nice though, considering the cost of material and time to do it.

                      emspaul send me a pm

                      Kevin

                        The masters were given to

The masters were given to Subtech who sold them as an update kit for a while. I do not believe they continued to sell them after the company changed hands. BD.

                            Drawings are helpful, reference photos

Drawings are helpful, reference photos and something to make a master out of! The only other important thing to consider when doing something like this is that your going to be affecting the boats dynamic diving ability. Do you plan to make it a static model?

                              You are 110% correct Mr

You are 110% correct Mr Nuke!!
The Akula will not turn or respond to the planes with the scale size surfaces.
In fact you would need a body of water the size of the Carmel pond and a good cross wind to get her to turn a 360!!
They are just too darn small!!
I made plug in clear plastic extentions for mine to use in the water.
                              With those she runs great!!
They are invisible in the water, and I just pull them out for show.
