I'd like to know more about the beautiful cover picture on the current SCR (mine arrived today). Its described as "artwork" but that's all. Is it a modified photograph? Who's the artist? Are copies available?

The cover is the result
The cover is the result of some photo manipulation to a picture provided for the Wahoo memorial article that was too low of a resolution to print that large. I used some Photoshop filters to get a watercolor painted affect.
There aren't any printed copies to share, and the file will not enlarge more than it is on the cover of the magazine without falling apart and getting all pixelated. So your cover copy is probably the best quality reproduction you can get. Keep that if you like it.

Neither the artwork nor the original photo could actually mimic the effect of standing there beside Bowfin, surrounded by Wahoo family members and Navy personnel -- including ComSubPac himself, whom I'd just had a conversation with -- watching the sun go down in riotous Pacific colors amid gentle Hawaiian breezes. Sweet. But a very fine compliment; thanks, guys!
